Shoes Of The Week – Jan Kielman

This is one mega-boot! Most likely not something that I would ever wear, as I don’t go hunting, but definitely something that I can appreciate and admire. If only it was about one foot shorter whereby that first buckle from the bottom was actually the top of the boot, then it would be something that would get ample use out of me! Nevertheless, these boots by Jan Kielman, are something to admire, as they represent an amazing amount of craftsmanship and detail. They actually make me wish that we were back in the early 1900’s where many people actually wore riding/hunting boots as a daily article of clothing (maybe not in the streets of London, but outside yes), because these ones would be baddest around, putting everyone else to shame…. There is something so elegant about boots like this, but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what that is. A feeling, yet seems to be an indescribable one. But sadly enough, as most trends circle around in stages, I am feel as if wearing boots like this will never really make it back into popular culture, thus leaving them solely for the people who need them as practical footwear for their hunting activities….too bad!

    Justin,

I WAS KIND OF WAITING FOR YOU TO ONE DAY POST JAN KIELMAN’S SHOES. i HAVE A BESPOKE PAIR (SUEDE HALF BROGUE), AND I’M LOVING THEM. NOT ONLY FROM THE COMFORTABLENESS POINT-OF-VIEW, BUT THE THE DESIGN AS WELL. i AGREE THAT TOO MANY OF THEIR SHOES ARE KIND OF OLD FASHION DESIGN (1930S-1950S), BUT THEY CAN DO ANY DESIGN. YOU MAY SUGGEST TO THEM TO WORK ON SOME OF THE NEW COLORING TECHNIQUES, AS-WELL-AS CREATING A NEW WEB WITH CLEARER, FRESHER PHOTO GALLERY.

  • Justin, I am the guy that talked with you for a while last Saturday and asked where I could find G&G shoes.

I found the store. Very nice shoes. But too expensive for me…

I was a pleasure having the opportunity of talking with you.

    Regards

  • Ike – This isn’t the first time that I have posted him…see here:

Don’t really know them personally, so I would not feel comfortable telling them what I think they should work on…could go the wrong way, you know. Some makers enjoy having that ‘old world’ appeal and because of that, maybe certain customers gravitate towards them…

Trapo – Thanks for stopping in Trapo, I know what you mean about G&G being quite expensive. They are worth it, but I know that many people, like myself, don’t have that kind disposable income….see you the next time!
