Remember: Leather Creases….Plain and Simple

This is just a reminder that to all of the newbies out there that think leather creasing means lack of quality, well you are mistaken. In fact, as I have said before, it is usually the highest quality leather and the one that fits you best that actually creases the most. Don’t ask me why as I don’t have the exact answer, but it just is. Just take this shoe for example. It is a bespoke made Anthony Delos. Shoes don’t really get more quality than what he makes. And yet, you see here that there are 5 prominent creases in the vamp/toe box. This does not mean that the leather is not of the utmost quality or that the shoe does not fit properly. In fact, I am sure that it is of the highest grade calfskin and probably fits like a glove as Delos is a master of his trade. But yet there are creases.

There is no real rhyme or reason to creasing. It just happens. The sooner that you accept that fact, the sooner you can be at peace with yourself.

For a more in-depth look at leather creasing, read the post on the right hand side of this blog that is titled “Leather creasing means something is wrong”

A plain toe shoe like this is always more suspect to creasing. Beautifully made shoe despite the creasing 🙂
