Things to Know About Shoes: Part 1 – The First 10

There are many questions that people have about shoes; questions that are not easily found or answered. Here I will try and do my best to answer as many as I can think of from not only many different situations that I have experienced but from simple facts/opinions that I have learned during my time in the industry. Here are the first 10 that I have managed to scrape from my tired, Sunday night mind….I […]

Spigola by Koji Suzuki

I was recently looking at holy grail of shoe magazines — a Japanese one called LAST — and realized how many Japanese shoe brands that A. I had never heard of and B. That have absolutely no presence outside of Far East. It made me sad (not really but…) to think that we out here in the West have very little access to these beauties that was I drooling over. I am not 100% […]

The Sinister Strap by Koji Suzuki

There is something very sinister about this strap by Koji Suzuki for Spigola. It just looks like it has attitude to it and the fact that it brings out these feelings, to me, means that the design was well executed. I don’t personally like a strap that falls below the side of the vamp/last line (and thus close to the welt) but I can certainly appreciate the appeal of it, especially when a shoe looks […]

Saint Crispins x Drakes = Great Collaboration!

I just recently learned that Saint Crispins is now selling through Drake’s of London, in their shop on Clifford St. The only thing is that it is not the Saint Crispins that we all know it as. Instead, it is something much more interesting and that is the fact that not only is it a collaboration between those 2 great brands but also has a third party involved: the great Japanese bespoke shoemaker, Mr. Koji […]

Mes Chausettes New Selection + Brick & Mortar Shop

My favorite sock suppliers have recently undergone a big revamp of their company, not only by nearly doubling their selection of beautiful socks, but even more impressive by opening up their own lovely boutique in the wonderful city of Paris. Much like myself, the individuals at Mes Chausettes Rouges are a group of young, driven individuals of whom I believe are leading the way not only in sock offerings but also in customer service & […]

The Lazyman Trend….Not My Thing

Picture Courtesy of Rugged Old Salt Koji Suzuki makes a beautiful shoe…without question. And this shoe is no exception. But what I have a hard time coming to terms with is the fact that this is an oxford, with what appears to be fully functional laces, but still has the side gusset that you would find the lazyman’s brogue. That leads me to therefore believe that the side gusset is now an accessory of design, […]

Ordering Shoes Online – With Assistance

Aubercy So as most of you may know, I have just recently put up a post with regards to pre-ordering my collection before they are currently available, as a way to give you all first stabs at my first range of footwear. It has been exciting and I appreciate all of you that have pre-ordered a pair or two. One of the challenging aspects of it, however, is relaying the sizing of the shoes to […]

Balancing Your Outfit

Expensive suits, crap shoes (with the exception of Colin Farrell, who looks to have some decent ones) Everything has its place, whether it’s cheap shoes, expensive suits, mediocre shirts, wrinkled trousers etc., but too often do you see a lot of men jumbling them all together in a way that does not make sense. There are ways to mix and match them, get away with it and still look relatively good. Take me for example, […]
