I have always had a fascination with the idea of wearing red shoes. The problem is that it is very hard to do. I actually have a pair, of quite red ones (like cherry red), but yet they may see the light of day once a year, if not less. It’s not that I don’t like wearing them but in a city like London where one is constantly bombarded by people, judging ones at that, I don’t like being the center of attention for 12 hours straight. Therefore I refrain from getting them out as much as I should. But that doesn’t mean I stopped liking them or the idea of red shoes. When I saw these, bespoke by Dimitri Bottier, I was quite enamored as they are a shade of red (slightly on the orange side) that I think could go by less noticed (not that they won’t be but not like a cherry red). And even better is that they are an extremely classic model paired with a very non classic color. That, for me, makes it an easier wear. And I am sure the owner these lovelies would agree!

Cherry red shoes are not acceptable in London? Really? That’s sad; I have some cherry oxfords and they are my favorites. Matter of fact, I would love to see a lot more red shoes (for reasonable prices) so that I could order some more. I even created a Pinterest board so I could keep track of all that I find:

Would love for you to write about why cherry red is frowned on, and show pics of your cherry red shoes in a future post.
P.S. I don’t love the red/orange of those shoes above. To me they stand out in a bad way far more than my cherry red shoes would.

many of the shoes in your page are burgundy though, which is not frowned upon. I meant like proper cherry red, the one used on a classic corvette. It’s a strong color and many in London are quite conservative and see being bold in your dress as peacockery, hence their tendency to wear mainly black shoes
