My Autumn Wear – Boots and Rollnecks
Autumn is an interesting season in NYC. You can have weather from as beautiful as the low 60’s and sunny to freezing cold, wet and windy down to below 30. Sometimes that can even happen from one day to the next. It makes picking your clothes a special job in itself as if you don’t read that forecast carefully you could find yourself in a world of pain with the cold!
Autumn is my favorite season, not only for the beauty of the falling, colorful leaves but also for the fact that I am able to start wearing what I actually like. I love jackets and I love to layer. Truth be told I cannot stand Summer, at least for the choice of attire available. Mainly because I hate to sweat and in NYC its all too easy to be dripping in sweat on one of those disgustingly humid days which leaves your choice of clothing down to a T-Shirt and some shorts. So I am happy for when Summer ends and transitions into the lovely Autumn season and before the dreadful Winter!
I am a boot guy without a doubt. I just find them more interesting than shoes, probably because the fact that they have an upper part to them that allows for more diversity in design as well as more options in styles. If NYC didn’t get so hot I would most certainly wear them all year ’round. Well, in fact, I do wear the Chelsea boots in Spring/Summer on those chillier days. I simply can’t stay away from them that long.
You can see here from this post that my style is diverse. From button boots to Timbo’s. To puffer vests to leather (or pleather in this case) jackets. One thing that you will find as common ground will be the fact that I am almost always wearing roll necks, at least if I am going for a smart look. Turtle necks as they are called in the US always got a bad rap when I was growing up. You got made fun of if you wore them. Because I cared about what people thought when I was young, I never wore them until I moved to London, where all of the smart gents are wearing them. And since starting, I simply can’t stop and it is my staple piece of clothing for the colder months, as are my hiking boots!
I hope that you all enjoyed taking a closer look into my style. And remember, wear what you want because it makes you feel good, not because someone else told you too!
