It’s All Been Done Before! – Nunn Bush

I stumbled across this super cool photo of a Nunn Bush advertising (courtesy of Marc Guyot’s IG Page) and really appreciated not only the super cool shoes but the swift reality that most things (i.e. shoe designs) are really not so new. A lot of times people automatically assume that back in the day, dress shoes were just classic but that is if anything further from the truth that one could be. Intricate shoe […]

Wayman Bespoke – The New Semi Bespoke Service

There is a new bespoke maker in town, who is revolutionizing what it means to get ‘bespoke’ or better yet ‘semi-bespoke’ in a day and age where international travel might be difficult if at all permitted. That maker is Wayman Bespoke and they are coming out of Germany. Like many stories of success, theirs started with a need that was hard to fulfill so they decided to fulfill it. Or should I say, he, Simon […]

Rezső Kuti, who is a personal friend, and longtime shoe industry worker in Hungary (worked for Vass for a while) finally decided to make a run at his own project after having worked for many others during his time in the industry. Wanting to give the industry another Handmade option to choose from, he created Passus and is well on his way to being the next industry player. The brand boasts completely handmade shoes, which […]

Industry Secrets Part 2: Production Times

All of those videos you watch about there being 300 steps and shoes staying on lasts for 2 weeks to 30 days are not accurate. It’s like a fictional motion picture showing you something that could be real but is sensationalized to create theater. Frankly, I don’t know why they do it either? I always hated those videos that show you someone clicking by hand and then once the tape stops rolling they break out […]

Industry Secrets Part 1: ‘Handmade’ is a Lie

Pictures in post represent what actual handmade shoes look like. The thing about me is that I believe lying is the most dangerous weaponry there is. It can fool millions, deceive entire groups of people, and lead many to have a perception that is built on falsehood. 90% of brands that claim their shoes are handmade are a part of that great deception. Your shoes are not handmade. Yet that is what they want […]

New Belgian Loafer Style by Löf & Tung

Löf and Tung has beat me to the punch! Haha. I have been thinking about doing my own welted version of the famous Belgian loafer style but it looks like the great Swedish brand has come first to market and its about time someone did (someone in the more ‘affordable’ range – as G&G is not exactly afforded by all). Its great looking too. Not yet available for RTW but I believe that you can […]

Txture of Indonesia – The Unboxing Video

Here I unbox a pair of Txture boots, a shoe brand out of Indonesia doing great things for the Americana industry. Incredible value and craftsmanship. I was super impressed when I got them and look forward to getting them on the feet soon, once the NYC sun calms down. At around $200, I do not see a better value than this. Incredible stuff for sure. Make sure you check them out! https://txtureboots.com/

Blue Cordovan Monkstraps by Carmina: MINDBLOWING

I keep seeing these Carmina monk straps on my social media feed and the more that I see them, the more I get jealous that I do not own a pair! For those that know me, you know that my favorite color is blue. Always has been. Always will be. And the blue on this Cordovan leather is simply sublime. It is so rich, yet so subtle at the same time. It is distinctly blue […]
