Bontoni Magic

Picture Courtesy of Bergdorf Goodman Not that I could really afford to purchase a Bontoni shoe “just like that,” but I find it such a crying shame for the sake of the customer that can afford “just like that” (as well as the growth of the idea of great Italian-made shoes) that you don’t see them at other stockists around Europe, or anywhere outside of the US for that matter….yet to me, they are seriously […]

Bontoni Brilliance!

I never really see Bontoni’s anymore and I just finally discovered why. Apparently, the founder (the grandfather) put a clause into the contract when he sold the company (or passed it on) to his heirs (son or grandsons -whichever) stating that he did not want his shoes to be sold in Europe (specifically Italy — on a RTW basis) but only be provided as custom creations. I was told that when they first started, it […]

Today’s Favorites – Bontoni Loafer MTO

Whilst living in America, I had the ability to see Bontoni shoes anytime I wanted. I just had to exit my job, walk about 100 yards and boom, there I was in Mario’s looking at Bontoni’s latest and greatest. But now that I live in Europe, I NEVER get to see them anymore, as I believe that they only really export their RTW stuff to America (and maybe the Far East). I have heard that […]

The eBay Experience

I have never been someone who has had a whole lot of patience, unfortunate as that may be. This downfall has prohibited me from taking part in many things…like learning how to actually hit the ball in golf, reading a book past the first 10 pages (it better grab me), and last but not least, taking advantage of the wonderful creation called eBay. Some things are obviously more important than others, in terms of helping […]

A Shoes Longevity

Bontoni shoes, Picture Courtesy of Style Buff Throughout my time in the shoe industry, I have always been plagued by the most subjective question in the world: “How long will these shoes last?” In all honesty, I really hate that question and to be quite blunt, I feel that the people who ask it are truly lacking in common sense. How am I supposed to know how long your shoes are going to last? How […]

Shoes Of The Week – Bontoni Whole Cuts

Even though I can be pretty ostentatious and like shoes that are crazy colors and uniquely designed, I still admire more than anything a shoe that defies all matter of out-of-the-box creativity and sticks to the basics, such as this elegant whole cut by Bontoni. And even more so, I love a whole cut that has brogueing on it. The brogueing somehow adds to the beauty of the shoe, not quite taking away from the […]

Today’s Favorites – Bontoni

I have never had the actual pleasure of owning a Bontoni shoe, but I have also never heard bad things about them and of all of the times that I have seen or held one in person, they always looked beautiful and felt well constructed. In America, they are quite popular with the higher-end boutiques that carry the $3000-$5000 suits and considering that Bontoni’s themselves are never retailing below $900, I guess that it makes […]

Monk Straps

Why don’t you ever see anyone wear monk strap shoes? I really can’t figure it out. You hardly ever see them for sale at stores and even more rarely see them being worn. I feel like they are going into extinction. But why?? Are you afraid to wear them? Do you like them? In my encounters with them and bringing them out to customers on the sales floor I feel like they are the leper […]
