Cool Imagery by Corthay

Being creative is always fun, especially when you do a good job at it. Like myself, Corthay seemed to also have had a website revamp in the not too distant past and I quite like their theme of using hand drawn artwork. It makes it feel fun and a lot more approachable as a brand. The whole site is quite nice really and the use of a ton of ‘hero’ imagery really works well […]

Corthay – Never a Bore With Their Eclectic Design

What I love about Corthay (and the French in general) is that they are always pushing the boundaries of design, at least in the shoe arena. I have said it before and I will say it again: it is hard to create something unique (yet still functional and attractive) in the shoe industry as nearly everything under the sun has been done at some point in history. But the French are truly good […]

Bryan Cuero of Brogue Geneva

The art of patina is always spreading and one that deserves recognition is Bryan Cuero, who holds his residence at Brogue shoe shop in Geneva. While I don’t know him personally (not yet, but plan to soon if I manage to convince Brogue to allow me to do a trunk show in Geneva), he seems to be a sharp young guy with a good head and a strong passion for patina work as he […]

The Shortwing Wingtip

I am all for tradition and not necessarily breaking the mold (altogether), but every now and then it’s nice to bend the rules a bit and do things slightly differently. This full brogue Corthay model, called Vendome, does just that by not only creating the pattern with lines that are far more curvaceous than normal, but more so by using a very small wing cap as opposed to the traditional one that is much larger. […]

Pitti Uomo: My Updated Views On It

This Pitti Uomo fair probably marked the largest attendance of “Shoe Industry People” due to the event that took place in the middle of the fair, BeShoes, hosted by Mr. Simon Crompton of Permanent Style and Tommaso Melani of Stefano Bemer. The point of the event was to bring together some of the greatest minds in footwear and get them all in one room not only to then pick their brain and hear their points […]

Corthay Does Denim

I was not the first person to ever use denim on my shoes. I mean, my inspiration came from a Hugo Boss shoe that I saw about 10 years ago, believe it or not. Hugo….Boss…Hey inspiration can come from anywhere! But I have been preaching that we need to stop being so conservative and try and new things and it’s nice to see that a few brands, such as Corthay, have listened. At least I […]

Corthay Canvas Shoes for S/S2015

I have always loved canvas as a material. The only thing that I do not love is how hard it is to clean when it gets dirty. White Chuck T’s (converse all star’s) are the ultimate no-no shoe for this very idea, but they always look cool. But as someone who hates a dirty/scuffy shoe, I could never allow myself to get a pair of those. This is where I am with these Corthay’s. Looking […]

The Future of The Shoe Snob….

When you are sitting there watching your 10 month old child play with everything around him, discovering all these new things, being creative, curious and completely innocent all at the same time, it really makes you think about life and the future of it. On top of that, I tend to have one of those minds that is always thinking. The only way that I can really turn it off is by watching a good, […]
