A Legend and Friend to Remember – Riccardo Bestetti

With regret I must tell those that don’t already know that we sadly lost an incredible person this week. That person was Mr. Riccardo Bestetti, one of greatest shoemakers and minds the shoe industry has ever seen. He was only 49 years old and passed away this Monday. Whilst not knowing exactly how or why as he had just recently informed me that he was in the hospital for lung inflammation and respiratory problems, […]

Suede Shoes – The Big Misconception

Why is it that so many men are afraid to buy suede shoes for fear of ruining them? Suede is just like any other leather. If you treat it well, it will last a long time, if you don’t maintain it, it will get ruined!! But it’s not guaranteed that if you live in a rainy place you are automatically going to ruin your suede shoes, as one might think. You would just as easily […]

Riccardo Bestetti Cowboy Boots

I will start by saying that personally, I don’t like cowboy boots. But as a shoe lover in general and someone that likes the craft sides of things, I can really appreciate not only the art that goes into a pair of cowboy boots but also the immense craftsmanship that does too. And while you wouldn’t catch me dead in any of these boots, I really admire them for their beauty as works of art, […]

A Very Elegant Chukka by Bestetti

I really like chukka boots, but just realized that I only have one pair of them and don’t wear them often. I don’t know why that is but I need to change that! I saw this one here by Riccardo Bestetti and was quite fascinated with its beauty. Everything about it is very elegant and appealing. And I know that some have an issue with how long Bestetti’s lasts are but after looking at […]

Texture and Great Photography by Bestetti

I really love this picture of one of Riccardo Bestetti’s bespoke samples. Everything about it is perfect, from the amount of lighting that highlights the textures of the shoe, to the placement of the angle of the shot that gives off the beauty of his craftsmanship to pretty much every detail that encompasses this shot. It’s hard to pinpoint really. But it is simply a great photo as it is one of the rare few […]

Bestetti for Made to Order Paris

This has to be the most intriguing adelaide that I have ever seen. It just has so much character with the shape of the facing design. Most things in footwear are quite soft and neutral as to appeal to the masses but you can tell that when Bestetti created this, he was probably thinking to himself, ‘screw it, I am going to design what I like and want and not what might appeal to […]

Bestetti New RTW Chukka Boot

Bestetti seems to be in the workshop day and night working not only on all of his bespoke orders but apparently the release of new models for his RTW collection. Here he goes for a classic chukka boot but with a few twists here and there. First and foremost, he plays off of the ‘as of late’ popularity of the apron stitch, putting a nice handstitched one on that dark brown suede model (probably […]

Riccardo Bestetti Now at Spiga3 in Gothenburg

Well, it’s official. Bestetti can now be bought at the click of a mouse (or touch pad) on your computer, all thanks to Spiga3, whom have just introduced the legendary maker into their shop in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am quite pleased about this too as it presents a nice alternative in the online footwear scene. And it would appear that everyone is trying to get someone new in their shop, that no one else […]

Riccardo Bestetti ‘Maverick’ – My Favorite Adelaide

Out of all of the “very classic” oxford styles (saddle not included in this ideology) the adelaide is probably among my top favorites. The fact that the separation of the facing is there just allows for a much more interesting look in the shoe, particularly because the vamp extends all the way to the back side of the quarter. And out of all of the adelaides, the Riccardo Bestetti ‘Maverick’ on the almond shape […]

The Brown Cap Toe by Riccardo Bestetti

I recently saw this picture of Jesper Ingevaldsson’s (of www.shoegazing.se) shoes by Riccardo Bestetti and re-fell in love with them again. I had first seen them in the flesh while visiting Bestetti’s factory and admired them for their simplistic beauty. While being a quite classic brown oxford, what really sets them apart is the color (hand patinated by Bestetti himself, and quite possibly Jesper too!) and the hand-woven like stitching that makes up the cap, throat line […]
