Changes to The Shoe Snob Marketplace

We have made some changes based on some of your feedback and wanted to show you what we did. 1. One of the most important things changed was making it easily recognizable between shoes that are sold as ‘used’ and shoes that are sold as ‘new’. Apparently there was a misconception that The Shoe Snob Marketplace is about selling used shoes but in fact, it is not. It’s purpose was creating a place where you […]

Quick Restore Using Saphir

The problem with mirror shines is that when they get a bit worn down i.e. cracked, they can make you feel like your shoe is ruined but its never the case and is nearly always a quick fix if you know the tricks to doing so and have good quality products backing you up in your efforts. I am a peesonal fan of the French made shoe care industry and Saphir is at the top […]

A Breakdown of Shoe Pricing and What to Expect – Part 1

***Pics of shoes have nothing to do with the post, just for your eye candy*** There is a lot of confusion in the consumer’s eyes on what you should expect from a pair of shoes and I was hoping to clear that up for some of you as it is important to know what you will get from what you will pay for in a pair of shoes. Wood & Paper Shoes by Orma Shoemaker x Zouganista

A pretty cool project recently went underway between a bespoke shoemaker and a wooden inlayer in the heart of Florence, Italy. For a presentation at the latest Pitti Uomo, they created three samples of shoes, one being a normal, leather brogue, another being made the same but in special cuts of wood (the middle, brown one) and one is in white paper (looks like paper mache). The shoemaker is called Orma Shoemaker (Wataru Shimamoto), trained […]

The 2nd Hand Shoegazing Market at Stockholm Super Trunk Show

Selling second hand shoes is getting bigger and bigger. eBay, of course, paved the way years ago, but since then it has been a consistently growing market. And it makes sense since we have the world at our fingertips now with smartphone technology and the likes of social media. And the reality is that most people are probably looking at their closets and thinking they have too many shoes or are at least bored of […]

The Belgian loafer is a staple piece in the menswear industry. Its popularity stems beyond the realm of just footwear though, so much so that that the founder was actually knighted for his help in reviving the Belgium shoe manufacturing industry.   I have decided to offer something new as a regular feature at J.FitzPatrick Footwear. And that is a different monthly offering of GMTO / Crowdfund models. As we have made so many samples and MTO’s over the years that will most likely never go into production, adding this feature allows us to offer you all the chance at grabbing something unique at a RTW price. The only kicker is that 5 other people need to […]

Unique Monkstrap Design by Winson Shoemaker

Indonesian Shoe brand, Winson Shoemaker, has come up with a very unique, asymmetrical monkstrap design that is unlike any other. If I had to put it into words it would be a U-Cap, Longwing Single Monkstrap. Its technical name according to the brand is the Equinox Single Monk. Its inspiration came from the peeling of an apple with the wrap-around peel. And they did a good job at mimicking that in shoemaking terms. Overall I […]

Happy 4th of July!

Wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July and the long weekend to follow! I hope that everyone enjoys themselves this weekend and takes some time to relax and enjoy the beauty of Summer! And since, I was writing a lot of strong words about dressing overly casual recently, I thought that I would back up what I say by showing what I wear in the tropics when it is 90F (32C) and 70% humidity. Not […]

Whoever is lucky enough to be that size is going to win! […]
